Product Development Engineer

Medix is seeking a Product Development Engineer for a global leader in innovative solutions for conveyor belt productivity.
The company specializes in providing products and services to enhance belt conveyor systems' efficiency, safety, and performance across various industries like mining, manufacturing, transportation, and more.
With offerings including conveyor belt maintenance tools, belt cleaners, tracking systems, they continue to push the boundaries of technology and engineering to optimize material handling operations by reducing downtime, minimizing spillage, and ensuring reliable conveyor belt performance.
They recently opened a new facility due to growth and are looking to increase their headcount. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with marketing to lead the conceptualization, design, and prototyping of all NPD.
Responsibilities :
- Facilitate brainstorming sessions, and search for new ways to approach problem solving for NPD and / or significantly improve existing products.
- Generate detailed drawings, establishing tolerances, fitments and clearances.
- Conduct detailed prediction calculations stress, strain, fatigue, power consumption, costing, heat transfer, ROI, etc.
- Use of Solidworks.
- Responsible for design changes and informing cross-functional disciplines.
- Determine appropriate materials, tolerances, heat treat, and buying decisions based on design criteria.
- Lead FMEA and risk analysis sessions.
- Create complex prototypes and test plans. Identify root cause failures and review test plans of junior personnel.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in design and development of new mechanical and / or electro-mechanical products.
- Proficient in Solidworks or other 3D CAD modeling software.
- Skilled in engineering principles including stress and strain, thermal analysis, fatigue and failure analysis.
- Experience in designing and releasing products from concept to launch, with support through the entire life cycle.
- Knowledgeable of materials including metals, rubbers and / or plastics.
