Customs Brokerage Manager
Job description :
Woodland Group are seeking a full time Customs Brokerage Manager for our site in New York. Reporting directly to VP of Woodland Brokerage, working closely with the Commercial and Operational teams. The Brokerage Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day brokerage operations.
100% office-based
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor incoming email and highlight potential problem areas to relevant staff, delegating as appropriate. Assist in staff s emails
Meeting established procedures and productivity
Meeting attendance and punctuality standards
Supporting day-to-day import operations as required
Training and developing Team as needed
Coordinating US Customs Brokerage keeping up with all the changes and ensuring staff understands them
Maintain knowledge of all new import requirements
Manages own and others performance and development, by reviewing performance, delegating, gaining commitment and empowering others
Produce strategic management reports
Organize, analyse, interpret and evaluate problems and prioritize own and department work activities
Provide leadership and motivation to staff
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Approve PTO time & attendance, verify accuracy
Check staff for accuracy
Ad-hoc projects
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Work with the team to continually improve processes and business performance.
Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward; and
Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and / or those set monthly or quarterly.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Achieve agreed individual objectives and hit targets; and
Understand and adhere to all Woodland policies and procedures relevant to the role.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
3+ years of managing a customs brokerage
Solid classification skills / PGA knowledge
Working knowledge of duty statements
Able to multitask, be flexible
Bachelor s degree in supply chain, international business, or a related field preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data analysis and process improvement.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Attention to detail and effective multitasking abilities.
Self-motivated, driven, and results oriented.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and experience generating reports from business systems.
