Senior Accountant-Financial Reporting
D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S. was founded in 1978 and is a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. It is engaged in the construction and sale of high quality homes designed principally for the entry-level and first time move-up markets. The Company also provides mortgage financing and title services for homebuyers through its mortgage and title subsidiaries. D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Senior Accountant-Financial Reporting. The right candidate will perform a variety of accounting functions with limited supervision by being able to identify issues, research, and develop solutions while applying a strong understanding of accounting principles. Collaborate in a team environment to produce financial reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in the preparation of the Companys financial statements
- Prepare month-end and quarter-end close schedules and journal entries
- Prepare weekly operational reports for management
- Prepare supporting schedules for the quarterly preparation of the 10Q / 10K filings
- Financial statement review and analysis
- Research and report on the financial performance of industry competitors
- Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Interface with internal and external auditors and assist as required
- Adhere to internal control procedures
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as requested
Education and / or Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field from a four-year college or universityTwo years of related experience and / or trainingBasic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Solid understanding of financial statements and internal controlsAccuracy and attention to detailAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers (clerical to executive management)Possess strong work ethicHigh level of organization and the ability to prioritize tasksAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral formAbility to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience preferredExperience working for a large company preferredBig 4 accounting experience is a plusHomebuilding industry experience using JD Edwards is a plusSchedule : Monday Friday, In-Office
