Program Coordinator For Leadership Development

Develop, coordinate, and implement leadership development programs, workshops, and retreats tailored to the needs of sorority and fraternity members. Create and deliver curriculum focusing on leadership theory, practical skills, and personal development. Coordinate with campus partners to offer diverse and comprehensive leadership opportunities. Establish and maintain collegial relationships and collaborations with chapter / graduate advisors, inter / national headquarters, and university / community stakeholders. Serve as a point of contact for students, parents / families, faculty, staff, and community and headquarters partners on issues related to Sorority and Fraternity life. Collaborate with the SFL Program Coordinators to create and implement semesterly new member training for all new members across all four councils to introduce them to the SFL community, reinforce expectations, provide space to make connections outside of their organization, and answer questions that may come along with being a new member of their organization. Collaborate with SFL staff to create educational, cultural, social justice and leadership development programs for various membership elements of the Sorority and Fraternity Life community. Collaborate with SFL staff to support the execution of annual advisor training and meetings with new and existing chapter advisors to establish and reinforce the expectations of chapter advisors for the SFL community. Provide crisis response and support to chapters and students in collaboration with the Director of SFL and the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs.

Support Graduate Assistant(s) in advising one or more council(s) through an experience-based approach, which includes : mentoring, officer transitions, monthly meetings, and other interactions. Support formal and informal recruitment processes for all SFL councils. Hold regular advising meetings concerning academic achievement, fiscal responsibility, student engagement, leadership skill acquisition, membership development, harm reduction, and work with chapter leaders to solve problems regarding management concerns through a chapter support model. Provide guidance and support to SFL organizations in planning and executing community service and philanthropic events. Support the chapters through council, university, or national headquarters' accountability processes and outcomes. Assist SFL leaders in developing strategies to address community concerns and issues. Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator for the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life to manage a community events calendar, highlighting chapter, council, and whole community events throughout the academic year. Assist with budget development and management as directed. Manage and maintain rosters, grade report records, and officer information for chapters following KU FERPA policies and procedures.

Manage, compile, and distribute council statistical information and database reports, including grade reports, in collaboration with SFL staff. Coordinate the evaluation and assessment of designated departmental programs. Collaborate with SFL staff on the Sorority & Fraternity Life Community Standards tracking and annual reporting process. Contribute to the overall Student Affairs assessment efforts and reporting. Continually monitor best practices in the SFL field and assist in implementation where appropriate. Serve on Division and University committees external to Sorority and Fraternity Life when asked. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree with three years of related experience. Minimum of one-year full time experience advising fraternities / sororities or student organizations on a college campus or related responsibilities as evidenced by application materials (two years as a graduate assistant equals one year of professional experience). Excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by application materials. Master's degree by employment in higher education, college student personnel, educational leadership, counseling, psychology, social welfare, public health, public administration or related field. Experience working with students, volunteers, and / or staff of any members organizations within the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), National APIA Panhellenic Association (NAPA), National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) umbrella organizations. Experience in organizing large-scale events, from conceptualization to execution.

Since 1873, the social sorority and fraternity organizations have grown to become a vital part of the University of Kansas history and tradition. Today, the sorority and fraternity community represent over 40 organizations with more than 4,100 students committed to core values such as : Academic Achievement, Civic & Community Engagement, Personal & Professional Development, and Holistic Wellness. Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) is an administrative unit of the University that provides support and advocacy for these organizations. The organizations are represented by four different Governing Councils : the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Panhellenic Association (PHA). Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) has eight full-time professionals and four graduate assistant(s). The Program Coordinator for Leadership Development reports to the Assistant Director for Community Development. The Program Coordinator for Leadership Development assists SFL with its mission to empower members of the sorority and fraternity community in expression of their respective organizations' values through the embodiment of community shared values. As a part of the SFL staff, the Program Coordinator for Leadership Development works to assist SFL in meeting its commitment to support, lead, engage and inform, through program development, community initiatives, implementation, assessment and community promotion. There is a commitment to continued professional development for staff members. The Program Coordinator for Leadership Development is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating leadership development programs of all SFL member organizations. The Program Coordinator also assists in fostering partnerships with internal / external stakeholders, providing harm and safety reduction education, supporting accountability processes for the SFL community, and managing data and records of engaged students.
