Prepares and serves cocktails, serves food items in the bar area, and for handles currency transactions by performing the following duties.

Providing support to bartenders involves a number of different duties. We analyzed many of the bartender and barback job descriptions to compile the following list of bartender and barback duties and responsibilities.

Wage : $10.63 with tips

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greets and serves customers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Prepares alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and other beverages for customers and servers in accordance with standard recipes.
  • Mix all drinks based on the serving sizes as outlined in the company manual to keep drink costs at a minimum.
  • Prepares all condiments to garnish drink orders.
  • Takes food orders and enters them into computer.
  • Applies knowledge of the full menu, beverages, and other restaurant information such as restaurant hours and types of payment.
  • Maintains a clean bar at all times wiping bar regularly, disposing of debris and bottles and washing glasses behind the bar as needed.
  • Checks and maintains stock of glassware, beverages and bar supplies and communicates shortages to appropriate person.
  • Assists with answering the telephone and taking messages to give to the proper personnel when time allows.
  • Maintain an accurate cash drawer throughout the shift and be able to account for any and all discrepancies in the final drawer tally.
  • Processes charge transaction through charge transmittal machine and prints, reviews, and submits a daily charge report to the Manager.
  • Completes all assigned opening and closing duties to prepare bar for efficient operation.
  • Communicates health and / or safety concerns / violations immediately to management.
  • Develop an efficient work pace that keeps the customers at the bar and in the dining room satisfied at all times.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
  • Change Kegs as Needed
  • Barbacks need to have a certain amount of physical strength to lift full kegs and carry them from storage. They also have to know how to proper1y tapa keg.
  • Clean and Restock Glassware
  • While most places have a dishwasher far kitchenware, glassware from the bar is washed and restocked by the Barback.
  • Open and Close Tabs
  • Barbacks open and close tabs for customers so bartenders can focus on the customers who are still ordering drinks. This requires basic math and a working knowledge of point-of-sale software.
