Posting Number SP004432P Position Title Postdoctoral Fellow Division / College College of Law Department College of Law Location Boise Posting Context Statement The University of Idaho College of Law invites applications for the iMagis Fellowship in its Immigration Litigation and Appellate Clinic (Immigration Clinic) to start on or about June 3, 2024.
This full-time, year-round, two-year public interest fellowship is designed for relatively recent law graduates interested in a career in immigration law, with a preference for those dedicated to living and practicing in Idaho.
In addition, the fellowship will provide training concerning clinical supervision and teaching. Position Overview The University of Idaho is unique in maintaining dual campuses in Boise and Moscow, which allows the Immigration Clinic to serve clients and conduct outreach throughout the state, as well as in Eastern Washington.
The fellowship will be based in Boise, one of the nation’s fastest-growing and most vibrant communities, with excellent access to outdoor recreation.
Students in the Immigration Clinic represent immigrant clients in cases pending before a variety of courts and administrative agencies, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The clinic focuses on asylum and other humanitarian forms of immigration relief.
In its first year, the fellowship will emphasize litigation skills, and the fellow will handle a modest caseload to hone immigration law expertise.
In addition, the fellow will co-supervise student teams and help teach some clinic seminars. In their second year, the fellow will focus more on student supervision and teaching.
During winter and summer breaks in the academic calendar, when students are not enrolled, the Fellow will also cover client matters.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to work for low-income and immigrant clients; and an interest in supervision and teaching
- The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of immigration law practice experience
- The fellow must be admitted to the Idaho bar or another state bar
