Responsibilities
- As a Law Clerk I, work as part of a high-performing team to hone analytical and research skills through intensive document reviews to identify relevant documents and conduct legal and factual research to build cases.
- Analyze and provide legal analysis to ensure extradition and mutual legal assistance requests comply with relevant treaties and United States law.
- Analyze documents received from foreign governments in criminal matters.
- Assist with inquiries from client agencies, including U.S. and foreign law enforcement officials on matters requiring Department action, consent, advice, and opinion.
- Communicate informally with U.S. Embassy personnel on case-related matters.
- Track deadlines and assist with prioritization of mutual legal assistance and extradition requests.
- Work directly with the field to prepare extradition and mutual legal assistance requests.
- Prepare written instructions for the office executing the requests for attorney review.
- Research, draft, and direct the preparation of correspondence, complaints, pleadings, briefs, and legal filings, as assigned and under the instruction of an attorney.
- Open and close cases in the OIA electronic case tracking system and record pertinent details concerning the execution of matters in OIA databases.
Qualifications
Required
Requires a law degree, or currently at or ending ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or an equivalent level of legal training or experience.Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.Desired

This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI's government contract for the work location.
Minimum Required Hourly Wage
$38.77
