Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the Safe and Successful Youth Initiative (SSYI) ensuring that a high level of service is provided to all program clients. She/he will foster a community that provides nonviolent solutions by extensive networking and collaborating within the community and reaching out to identified at-risk males aged 17-24 in the community.

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the SSYI Street Outreach Implementation Plan.
  • Serves as liaison to community partners and SSYI.
  • Plans and attends community events and meetings related to SSYI grant activities.
  • Oversees records and documentation of program activities, data collection and reporting for SSYI.
  • Oversees and administers ORAS and ISP assessments, data collection and reporting.
  • Promotes the models of positive youth development and trauma-informed care.
  • Coordinates and documents partnership meetings with all collateral partners and others as needed.
  • Knowledgeable about YMCA wrap-around services for teens and young adults, including community services and programs.
  • Works with the SSYI Case Worker to assess participant family needs and makes referrals to appropriate services when requested.
  • Attends internal/external professional development training as required
  • Responds appropriately to crisis situations.
  • Provides internal and external reports as requested.
  • Knowledgeable of gang and street culture, local agencies, and Brockton systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to network effectively with various types of organizations, including government agencies, law enforcement agencies, schools, social service agencies, courts/probation/DYS/corrections and grassroots organizations.
  • Promotes and ensures quality safety protocols for peers and clients.
  • Exercises good judgment regarding confidentiality, sharing of information, and human relations.
  • Works collaboratively with the Employment Coordinator.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years in performing client-directed services in a field such as social service, grassroots organizations, community advocacy, or youth intervention.
  • Experience with the Brockton community and target population preferred.
  • Valid MA driver’s license, approved driving record and proof of insurance. Ability to drive car up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be culturally responsive at all times.
  • Ability to operate a computer and enter data, maintain records, and generate reports
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with clients, families, and collateral resources in person and by phone.
  • Daily attendance and scheduling flexibility to include working nights and weekends.
