What You'll Do
With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and undergroundTest, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installationPerform tasks associated with the upgrade and splicing of Cables (710 Splicing)Install / repair lines in trenches and / or pedestals using various hand toolsAssemble equipment according to design specificationsEnsure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standardsSafely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the airComplete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checksDocument work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage recordsOther duties as assignedWhat You'll Need
To be 18 years of age or olderAuthorization to work in the United States for this companyHigh School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experienceValid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving recordMust be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical cardSix months of copper splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry1-2 or more years of experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and documentationMust be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-callOther duties as assignedAdditional Qualifications
Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferredPhysical Abilities & Exposures
Routinely : operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 poundsOccasionally : work in confined spaces, use ladder, keyboard and mouseThe wage range for Splicer I Copper is $25.00 - $37.00.
