Overview
Job title : Facilities Equipment Maintenance Supervisor. This role requires ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all industrial equipment across the department's laundry facility, print shop, and mail operations. The position involves advanced troubleshooting and repair, certifications, preventative maintenance, inventory management, staff training, and providing strategic input on equipment purchases.
What You'll Do In This Role
- Building and Production Services Equipment : Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial laundry, print, and mail equipment. Obtain and maintain manufacturer certifications, enable direct parts purchasing, and optimize maintenance contracts. Evaluate repair complexity and coordinate with external specialists. Advise management on in-house versus vendor maintenance. Interpret schematics, PLC programs, and electronic control systems for advanced troubleshooting. Ensure repairs meet safety and reliability standards.
- Preventative Maintenance : Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance schedules; maintain critical spare parts and tools; ensure OSHA safety standards, lockout / tagout, and PPE compliance; establish routine care programs for student staff; implement CMMS or equivalent tracking tools.
- Operations Support and Problem Solving : Respond rapidly to urgent breakdowns to keep operations running; provide temporary workarounds as needed; input on new equipment purchases considering lifecycle costs and maintainability; develop contingency plans for extended outages.
- Vendor and Campus Relations : Serve as liaison with campus Physical Facilities; manage vendor relationships and procurement for parts and service; participate in vendor negotiations and budgeting; act as technical expert during contract negotiations to ensure value and measurable performance.
- Training and Supervision : Recruit, train, and supervise student maintenance crews; develop training programs and performance standards; maintain documentation; mentor student staff to build practical technical skills.
- Strategic Input, Safety, and Data Tracking : Maintain downtime logs and report key performance data; contribute to budgeting and forecasting for maintenance and capital costs; ensure safety policy compliance; analyze maintenance trends and identify root causes; participate in safety audits and emergency planning.
Minimum Education / Experience Required
5+ years' experience in maintenance, equipment repair, mechanical systems, or related technical field.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems.Experience leading, training, or supervising staff or student workers in a technical environment.Experience developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.At least 1 year of experience in maintenance for industrial laundry and industrial printing operations.Experience using maintenance software, performance metrics, or CMMS to track repairs and equipment reliability.Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of industrial maintenance experience.Manufacturer certifications in laundry, printing, or mail equipment.Supervisory experience in facilities or production environments.Experience negotiating vendor contracts and managing service agreements.OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.Associate or bachelor's degree in industrial technology, engineering, or related field (strongly preferred).Certifications in PLC programming, electrical systems, or reliability engineering.Physical Requirements and Environment
Physical effort : Moderate; frequent handling of medium-weight objects (20–50 lbs), use of hand tools, climbing, and working from ladders or in awkward positions.Environment : Frequent exposure to all-weather and dirty or challenging working conditions.Hazards : Moderate existing or potential hazards.Typical physical / environmental factors : Heat from boilers or steam-driven equipment; dirty conditions from oil and grease; lifting heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.What We Offer In Return

Typical Starting Pay
$63,500 to $82,500 (depending on experience)
