POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Quality Manager is responsible for defining and executing the global quality strategy for assigned product lines throughout the New Product Development & Introduction (NPDI) lifecycle. This role has direct management responsibility for a team of NPDI Product Quality Engineers who lead quality execution for individual NPDI programs.

The Sr. Quality Manager ensures that quality is embedded from concept through commercialization by establishing clear standards, governance, and accountability across global NPDI efforts. Working closely with R&D, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management, this role drives disciplined risk management, design and process robustness, and successful product launches that meet regulatory, customer, and business requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Global NPDI Quality Ownership

  • Own global quality strategy, governance, and execution for NPDI across assigned product lines.
  • Serve as the senior quality point of contact for NPDI programs and escalations within scope.
  • Ensure quality deliverables are clearly defined, resourced, and executed across all NPDI phases and global regions.

Leadership of NPDI Product Quality Engineers

  • Directly manage and develop a team of NPDI Product Quality Engineers who lead quality execution for individual NPDI projects.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and prioritization to ensure consistent application of quality tools, methodologies, and standards.
  • Set performance objectives, conduct reviews, and support career development for NPDI quality team members.
  • Ensure effective workload planning and alignment of quality resources to NPDI program priorities.
  • Quality Systems, Standards & Design Controls

  • Develop, deploy, and sustain global NPDI quality standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, industry, and customer quality requirements throughout product development and launch.
  • Oversee implementation of design controls, risk management activities (e.g., DFMEA, PFMEA), validation planning, and change management.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partners with R&D, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Service teams to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, phase-gate reviews, and launch readiness assessments.
  • Drive timely and effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for NPDI and early production issues.
  • Data, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Define, track, and analyze NPDI quality KPIs, including launch readiness, defect trends, and early field performance.
  • Use data-driven insights to identify systemic gaps and drive continuous improvement across NPDI processes.
  • Lead initiatives to improve speed to market, product robustness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Communication & Executive Reporting

  • Report NPDI quality status, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership and executive forums.
  • Present quality performance in Quality Quarterly Business Reviews and NPDI governance reviews.
  • Champion a culture of quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across global teams.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in Quality, Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 7 years in a leadership or people-management role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quality teams supporting New Product Development & Introduction in a global environment.
  • Strong expertise in quality management systems, design controls, risk management, validation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technical professionals.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a systems-thinking approach.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting complex, global manufacturing and supply chain environments.
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma (Green / Black Belt), Lean, ASQ, or equivalent.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Global travel is required, approximately 40%, depending on program needs.
