Pathology Transcriptionist, Full Time, Day Shift
Job Summary :
Performs a multitude of secretarial functions essential in the day-to-day operation of the department including transcribing gross and microscopic dictation in a timely manner.
Translates and transcribes Pathologist's dictations into comprehensive typed records.

Education and Work Experience :
- High School Education / GED or equivalent : Preferred
- Associate’s / Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education / related experience : Preferred
Essential Functions :
Transcribes medical dictation for Pathologist. Applies knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology to the transcription and proofreading of medical dictation.
Prioritizes and accurately performs transcription.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the medicolegal implications and responsibilities related to the transcription. Performs duties as needed in scheduling meetings / appointments / procedures for Pathology, managing daily operations for area of responsibility and ordering and maintaining supplies at level to meet departmental needs.
- Operates designated word processing, dictation, and transcription equipment as directed to complete assignments. Ensures previous pathology diagnosis search is completed in accordance with established procedures.
Mails and faxes anatomical pathology and bone marrow reports to physicians
- Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the pathology transcription department. Recognizes and reports problems, errors, and discrepancies in dictation and patient records to appropriate authority.
- Collects Quality Assurance data and reports the data to pathologist monthly. Performs projects / assignments for the pathologists
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
