Position Overview : We're seeking an experienced, hands-on Café Manager to oversee daily operations of our new artisan café. This is a leadership role that combines operational management, team development, customer service excellence, and business growth. Key Responsibilities :
Operations Management :
- Oversee all daily café operations including opening / closing procedures
- Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure adequate supply levels
- Monitor food and beverage quality standards and ensure consistency
- Implement and maintain health, safety, and sanitation protocols
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service
- Manage cash handling, daily reconciliation, and financial reporting
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions quickly
Team Leadership :
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise baristas, and kitchen staffCreate staff schedules to optimize coverage and control labor costsConduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and developmentFoster a positive, collaborative team cultureLead by example with exceptional customer service and work ethicHandle employee conflicts and disciplinary matters professionallyCustomer Experience :
Ensure outstanding service all customersAddress customer concerns and complaints with professionalism and empathyBuild relationships with regular customers and the local communityGather customer feedback and implement improvementsCreate a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphereBusiness Development :
Work with ownership to meet revenue targets and control costsMonitor key performance indicators (sales, labor costs, food costs, customer counts)Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve profitabilitySupport marketing initiatives and community engagementRecommend menu changes or new offerings based on customer preferencesFacility Management :
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the caféCoordinate maintenance and repairs with contractorsMonitor equipment functionality and arrange servicing as neededRequired Qualifications :
3+ years of management experience in café, restaurant, or hospitality environmentProven track record of managing teams of 8-12+ employeesStrong understanding of P&L management and cost controlExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience with inventory management and vendor relationsKnowledge of NYC health department regulations and food safety standardsPOS system experience (ordering, reporting, staff management)Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekendsPreferred Qualifications :
