Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position requiring a SD or compact license, advanced cardiac skills, and strong coronary and peripheral case experience.

Responsibilities

Work in the Cardiac Cath Lab of a level II trauma and teaching hospital

Patient population includes coronary artery disease, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, complex occlusions, valvular and renal disease, carotid and peripheral stenosis, thrombosis, and advanced device insertions such as Impella and LVAD

RN-to-patient ratio is 1 : 1

Position involves specialized skills such as critical assessment, sedation drug administration, and operation of devices including IABP, Impella, Rotoblator, and Penumbra

Utilizes EPIC as the primary EMR; experience with Epic Cupid is preferred

10-hour variable shifts with a 40-hour work week

On-call required 1-2 days per week from 1630-0600 and every 4th weekend from Friday evening to Monday morning

Weekend rotation every fourth weekend and possible holiday requirement

Duties include assessment, direct patient care during procedures, device operation, and responding to critical situations

Orientation consists of 4 days with 10-hour shifts

Support provided by a charge nurse Monday through Friday, no CNA or phlebotomy support

No floating between departments required

Procedural scrubs are provided

Free parking available

First-time travelers considered only if highly experienced in complex coronary and peripheral cases

Time off must be approved by the manager

Requirements

Active SD or compact RN license required

Minimum of 2 years Cath Lab RN experience with expertise in coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral cases

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Experience with critical patient assessment, vasoactive and sedation medications, and sterile technique required

Must live at least 100 miles from the facility

Experience with EPIC EMR required and Epic Cupid preferred

Previous permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
