Overview Our client Virtual Artifact Lab (VAL). Covision 3d Scanner | ETW’s. ETW 2- 3D Production Artist. We are seeking a detail-oriented and hilly skilled Production Artist with experience in 3D asset post-processing to join our team in the digital preservation and production of high-fidelity 3D assets.
In this role, you will take raw 3D scan data captured from high-resolution scanning devices and transform it into clean, production-ready 3D assets. This includes geometry cleanup, optimization, and texture retouching using Adobe Substance tools within a PBR (physically-based rendering) workflow.
Key responsibilities Import and process raw 3D data to prepare it for use in real-time or high-fidelity rendering environments.
Clean and optimize geometry.
Refine textures using Adobe Substance 3D tools following a physically based rendering (PBR) workflow.
Ensure materials and assets are visually consistent, photorealistic and performant for target platforms (High-fidelity Archival and Optimized for real-time Web, AR, VR).
Work closely with 3D Scanning operator and Archivists.
Maintain organized file structures and naming conventions for efficient asset management.
Required skills & qualifications Proven experience working with 3D scanned data and post-processing for production.
Proficient in Adobe Substance 3D Painter and other Substance tools.
Strong understanding of PBR material workflows and real-time rendering pipelines.
Proficient with 3D modeling tools such as Blender.
Experience with retopology, UV mapping, and normal baking.
Familiarity with real-time rendering engines is a plus.
Strong artistic eye and attention to detail, especially for material surface qualities and realism.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred qualifications Background in digital art, VFX, 3D production.
Experience with photogrammetry pipelines and automated scan processing tools.
Knowledge of color calibration and photographic reference processing is a plus.
Passionate about preserving historical records and materials.
