Responsibilities
Responsible for supervision of Boiler Operators. Operates and maintains boilers and other auxiliary equipment necessary for producing steam for heat and power for Medical Center.
Must have the analytical skills necessary to operate boiler room equipment and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems using standard technical methods as well as the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when working with boilers and related auxiliary equipment.
- Record all pertinent and required data. Reports all malfunctions or unusual situations to the supervisor.
- Maintain water softening equipment and de-alkalizes.
- Answer telephone and responds to calls in the Medical Center.
- Make rounds of buildings and equipment on a scheduled basis.
- Supervise activity of all Boiler Operators. Schedules manpower to maintain coverage on all shifts. Interviews Boiler Operator applicants. Orient new employees.
- Assist with the training and / or orientation of new Power Plant Operators.
- Responsible to be knowledgeable in usage of Building Automation System for control of Air Handlers and Associated Equipment.
- Responsible to have knowledge and understanding of the Pneumatic Tube System to assist maintenance mechanics with troubleshooting system problems.
- Capable of performing chiller start-up and shut-down as needed to maintain appropriate building temperatures.

Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration :
Licensed Third Class Boiler Operator obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education :
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years work experience required in boiler room operating techniques and related activities preferred.
