Job Summary :

This position is responsible for the overall management of the Highway Construction Materials Technician Program (HCMTP).

This dynamic program provides the training and certification testing for all technicians and engineers who conduct materials testing for highway construction projects in Oklahoma.

  • This position manages the scheduling and delivery of all HCMTP courses and certification tests; manages the day-to-day tasks to assist all instructors and evaluators in the training and certification sessions;
  • Proctors written exams; Assists the director in the development and revision of all curricula and other training materials;

Oversees the ordering and distribution of course material; Coordinates the maintenance of testing equipment; and manages collection of fees for companies’ course participants and the ODOT Controller.

Provides certification information to the ODOT Materials and Research Division for entry into the Site Manager system within 2 business days of individuals becoming certified.

Print and distribute RHCMT certificates.

Exposure to dust from training activities in a lab setting

Position Qualifications :

Required Qualifications :

Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or as determined relevant by department.

Four years of related experience.

Ability to coordinate the scheduling and delivery of a training program for more than 700 students / year. Proficiency in use MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Ability to use or willingness to learn Visual Basic. Ability to develop formal reports and other professional business documents.

Ability to communicate effectively with professional engineers, technicians, and government officials. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs for 100 feet

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelors degree in civil engineering, construction management technology. 3 years in construction or related field; Knowledge of highway construction materials.

HCMTP certification at one or more of the following levels : aggregates, asphalt, asphalt sampler, concrete, materials sampler, profilograph operator, soils, asphalt mix design I, asphalt mix design II.

Knowledge of program budget management. Knowledge of ODOT Site Manager database. Knowledge of Oklahoma Highway Construction Materials Technician Certification Board procedures and certification requirements.

Knowledge of state and federal laws addressing privacy of student records. Ability to use Visual Basic.
