Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705.

The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) demonstrates commitment to the University's mission and the student population by assisting students In reaching optimal academic success through wellness, episodic assessment, diagnostics and treatment

The FNP provides episodic care to enrolled students experiencing minor illnesses, sprains and strains. These services may Include assessment and treatment and / or follow-up and referrals.

There is no overnight stay; however, minimum confinement for observation If symptoms indicate. The nursing staff provides health maintenance assistance to students with chronic health problems via medical referral to regional health care providers.

The FNP also provides health promotion activities through workshops, health fairs, blood drives, classroom lectures, dorm presentations and community collaboratives.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical history and medical records.
  • Conduct physical assessment.
  • Assess, diagnose and treat based on national clinical guidelines.
  • Provide medical care based on scope of practice and clinical guidelines In family practice.
  • Develop, implement and assess patient outcomes.
  • Provide direct medical services utilizing Clinical Guidelines in Family Practice, National Institute of Health, WORLD Health Organization and GA Department of Public Health.
  • Provide continuity of care through referrals and local agencies using HIPAA Compliance.
  • Provide campus guidance regarding possible or actual epidemic or pandemic.
  • Plan, design and implement health education programming, health outreach and Ask A Nurse to the Albany State University community.
  • Obtain Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as required by state licensing and regulatory boards.
  • Participate In professional development through self-directed professional reading, webinars, workshops, conferences, seminars, and / or training as required by the Director of Student Health Services and / or Vice President of Student Affairs.
  • Provide linkage with other campus departments and community partners as appropriate, within ethical guidelines and using HIPAA Compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in student / parent sessions and resource fairs during New Student Orientation, Open House and Parent University.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders and build community partnerships.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director or the Vice President of Student Affairs to support the goals and mission of Student Health Services, the Division of Student Affairs and Albany State University.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing

Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Registered Professional Nurse

1 years experience in a Nursing Practitioner role

Preferred Qualifications

Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Registered Professional Nurse with 3 years experience In a Nurse Practitioner role.

Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $69,462 to $73,000

KNOWLEDGE :

  • Knowledge of Scope of Practice.
  • Knowledge of clinical guidelines in family practice.
  • Knowledge of clinical skills to Include assessment, diagnostic and treatment based on national recommended clinical guidelines for medical care Ex : CDC, NIH, WHO,
  • Knowledge of concepts of continuity of care.
  • Knowledge of basic EMR and its integration with telemedicine.
  • Knowledge of issues related to physical development, health and wellness.
  • Knowledge of physical, social, and psychosocial Issues due to human growth and development.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation.
  • Knowledge of ethical, legal and professional standards.

SKILLS :

  • Ability to "pivot" based on clinical demands.
  • Proficiency with CPR and use of Narcan
  • Proficiency with basic medical equipment.
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong professional, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational, detail-orientated, multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with basic office equipment.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.
