Traffic Engineer 2

Overall Responsibility :

A Traffic Engineer 2 supports the Division / Project Manager in the preparation of quality traffic engineering studies and construction plans for various public and private clients. Must be self-motivated individual that works well in a team-oriented environment. Must be able to apply critical thinking skills to make independent engineering judgements and design decisions.

Key Areas of Responsibility :

• Firm proficiency in developing complex traffic signal plans and traffic simulation models for capacity analysis and level of service evaluations.
• Firm understanding of traffic signal and ITS systems.
• Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures / ordinances.
• A firm understanding and consistent application of Southeastern Engineering, Inc. / GDOT design standards.
• Proficient technical writing skills in preparing documents.
• Prepare / Review construction plans for the installation of traffic signal and other traffic control systems that meet the requirements of the Georgia Department of Transportation and / or the local jurisdiction.
• Prepare / Review traffic engineering studies that support the requirements of projects with state and local agencies and the private development sector.
• GDOT PDP experience and knowledge of GDOTs PPG and EDG.
• Firm knowledge of local state, county ordinances, including ADA guidelines.
• Firm data collection knowledge (count data, crash data, field inspections, signal timing data, basic surveying techniques, etc.), and ability to interpret and evaluate the quality of data.
• Ability to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
• Additional duties as assigned.
