Must-Have :

• Required Education : Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of completion of Surgical Technology program
• Required Skills : Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology for optimal surgical patient care
• Knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers for optimal surgical patient care
• Knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork
• Application of principles of sterile technique during surgical procedures

Description :

The Surgical Technician functions as an integral part of the perioperative team as the first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

The role involves delivering safe and effective care to the patient during the intraoperative period.

This position requires applying the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to maintain a sterile environment.

Surgical Technicians will demonstrate competency in select technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and appropriate knowledge base.

Providing age-specific care to patients in accordance with established policies and procedures is essential.

The Surgical Technician assists in organizing and coordinating supplies and equipment to maintain an efficient and cost-effective department.

Maintaining a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and oneself is a critical responsibility.

Awareness of and adherence to safety and legal requirements established at the unit level and other policies and procedures is necessary.

Charging for equipment and supplies is part of the job duties.

Participation in room turnover and setup is required.

Maintaining and cleaning equipment and identifying items needing repair must be completed per policy.

Effectively performing sterilization, disinfection, and documenting loads as per policy is also required.
