Job description

Position Overview

  • Support cardiovascular surgical procedures by preparing the operating room with sterile instruments and specialized cardiac equipment
  • Anticipate the needs of cardiovascular surgeons during open-heart and vascular procedures
  • Handle surgical instruments, sutures, grafts, and implants with accuracy and efficiency
  • Maintain a sterile field and assist in intraoperative monitoring of patient safety and surgical integrity
  • Collaborate with circulating nurses and perfusionists to ensure smooth procedural flow
  • Follow hospital protocols for aseptic technique, infection prevention, and OR safety
  • This role is ideal for skilled surgical techs seeking to deepen their expertise in a specialized cardiovascular operating room within a fast-paced and collaborative surgical services team

    • Job Requirements

    Required Credentials

  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program
  • National certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to meet credentialing requirements for cardiac surgical support

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized training or experience in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery
  • Familiarity with CVOR-specific instruments and techniques
  • Advanced understanding of sterile technique and OR workflow

    • Experience

  • At least one year of surgical technologist experience in a CVOR or high-acuity OR environment preferred
  • Candidates with strong cardiovascular clinical rotations will also be considered
