Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) will have overall technology responsibility for Chicago Booth worldwide and manage the current staff of approximately 53 people across operations, application development, project management, service management, and IT security.

The CIO is responsible for owning strategy, architecture performance, resource management, and service provider management responsibility for the entire organization, develop plans and strategies for the IT organization.

This individual provides technology leadership for the institution while maintaining communication with the deans, faculty, staff, and students.

Leads technology aspects for the organization and inspires / motivates a practical approach for successfully implementing technology solutions and support across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and supports technology for Chicago Booth.
  • Develops and implements a service-oriented environment.
  • Assures clarity and service-oriented understanding with all constituents.
  • Manages the Application Development, Operations, Project Management Office, Service Management, IT Security and Client Services staff.
  • Refines documentation and governance procedures as related to hardware, software, service levels, and resource allocation.
  • Provides leadership to the department’s staff as a whole.
  • Plans and manages the Information Technology budget.
  • Takes responsibility for other related projects as assigned.
  • In alignment with campus IT strategy, IT Services' initiatives, research and teaching activities and broader academic goals, foster collaboration, build relationships and maintain partnerships specifically with (but not limited to) other organizations within IT Services, divisional and departmental IT units, vendors, clients, and staff.
  • Establishes the group's operating budget, create and maintain a staffing plan and professional development program, assess staff performance, and monitor productivity to best apply staff talent and experience to problems and projects.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education :

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience :

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 10+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Certifications :

Preferred Qualifications

Education :

MBA or Master’s degree in IT, or a related field.

Experience :

  • IT development / operations experience, including leadership roles.
  • Leading / managing a staff of IT professionals, with the ability to inspire and energize others.
  • Working horizontally across an organization to implement change.
  • Leading an IT organization for a highly decentralized, people and data intensive business, either in the commercial or non-profit sectors.

  • Proven leadership capabilities, initiative, and an entrepreneurial and imaginative approach.

Working Conditions

This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
