Description : The Digital Transformation Consultant will report to the Chief of Staff of the Chief Digital Information Officer. This role will play a pivotal role in modernizing IT organization's resource and capacity management processes. The consultant will quickly come up to speed on the IT team's legacy resource and capacity management tools and processes. The individual will help evolve their capabilities to align with the needs of the organization. This position requires a strong background in developing low-tech, user-friendly processes that effectively capture necessary details for work management. The consultant will collaborate with stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and improve decision-making capabilities within the team. Responsibilities include partnering with IT leaders to conduct thorough assessments of how IT work is ingested, distributed, prioritized, and completed. Identify current state gaps in how the IT department accounts for resource capacity and assigns resources to different bodies of work. Facilitate meetings, workshops, and focus groups with IT leadership to collect feedback on current capacity management practices and barriers to potential enhancements. Design a comprehensive strategy for modernizing resource and capacity management practices. Implement low barrier-to-entry processes to improve capacity management practices while balancing real-time visibility into resource capacity with realistic expectations regarding change management. Develop simple processes and templates for capturing work details and managing resource allocations effectively. Establish capacity reservation standards to ensure teams have sufficient time to complete maintenance while balancing the need to address projects, requests, and incidents. Establish a governance structure around capacity management with clear roles and responsibilities to ensure a standardized approach. Design and implement reporting tools and processes for understanding capacity constraints to influence decision-making around project prioritization, staffing, and budgeting. Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of implemented processes and make necessary adjustments based on feedback and performance data. Create clear documentation and guidelines to facilitate the understanding and implementation of new processes across the team.
