Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – CVOR First Assist (Travel Assignment)

Location : Weston, FL

Shift : 6 : 45 AM – 5 : 15 PM (with cardiac call)

Scheduled Hours : 40 hours per week

Assignment Type : Travel

Start Date : Next available orientation date (approximately 3–4 weeks out)

Locals Accepted : Yes - $50 / hr

Position Overview :

Cleveland Clinic Florida – Weston is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist – CVOR First Assist for a travel assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) and vascular experience, with the ability to assist in both cardiac and general surgical cases as needed.

This role requires a professional who can adapt to a fast-paced environment, participate in on-call rotations, and work collaboratively with a world-class surgical team in a top-rated teaching facility.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist surgeons in cardiovascular and thoracic procedures as a First Assist.
  • Prepare, maintain, and manage sterile surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and patient safety standards.
  • Support other surgical cases (non-cardiac) when CVOR cases are not scheduled.
  • Participate in cardiac call rotation and be available for after-hours cases.
  • Float within scope to other areas and sister facilities as needed.
  • Complete all required modules and documentation promptly prior to start date.

    • Requirements :

  • Certification : NBSTSA or NCCT certification preferred (not required).
  • Experience :

    • Minimum 18 months of CVOR experience required.

  • 2+ years of experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in Cardiac and Vascular procedures required.
  • BLS Certification : Required (AHA).
  • First-timers : Accepted.
  • License : Must hold valid state or compact Surgical Tech license (no pending licenses).
  • Other Requirements :

    • Must be nicotine-free (facility requires a negative 10-panel + cotinine screen ).

  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront.

    • Schedule & Call Requirements :

  • Typical Shift : 6 : 45 AM – 5 : 15 PM
  • Cardiac call required (approximately 6 shifts / month minimum; may increase based on staffing).
  • Weekends and holidays may be required.
  • No block scheduling available.
  • Guaranteed Hours : 36 hrs (3x12s) or 40 hrs (8s / 10s).
