General Duties :
Health Assessments : Conduct health screenings and assessments to evaluate students' health status, including vision, hearing, and other health concerns.
First Aid and Emergency Care : Provide immediate care and treatment for injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies that occur during school hours.
Medication Administration : Administer prescribed medications to students as needed, ensuring compliance with medication protocols and parental consent.
Chronic Disease Management : Manage the care and monitoring of students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, allergies, and epilepsy.
Health Education : Educate students, staff, and parents on topics related to health promotion, disease prevention, and wellness practices.
Health Counseling : Provide counseling and support to students regarding health-related issues, including nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.
Collaboration : Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and healthcare providers to coordinate care and support for students with special health needs.
Documentation : Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, including documentation of assessments, treatments, and communications with parents and healthcare providers.
Health Promotion Programs : Develop and implement health promotion programs and initiatives within the school community, such as immunization clinics, health fairs, and wellness activities.
Policy Development : Assist in developing and implementing school health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state regulations and best practices in school health services.
Emergency Preparedness : Participate in developing and practicing emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during emergencies and disasters.
Continuing Education : Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in school nursing through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
