Job description

Finance Manager

Accountable for partnering with the CEO to drive overall Profit and Loss (P&L) management across the company's logistics function. Provides strategic direction for all financial operations and collaborates with global, regional, corporate, and local teams to develop strategies that achieve both long-term and short-term profit objectives. Partners with other functions, including Supply Chain, HR, and Sales, to support their teams in executing and identifying strategies to meet these goals. This position leads a team of managers and is responsible for guiding their performance, development, and growth.

Major Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Determine business strategy through collaboration with CEO / Owner and Pegasus Leadership to create / define key metrics to measure performance
  • Act as a financial business partner and liaison with CEO / Owner. Provide short- and long-term financial insight, analysis, and recommendation on business initiatives. Also, provides insight into risks to delivering our financial commitments and opportunities to close any gaps.
  • Own the forecasting process and use it as a means to drive business decisions that deliver on our financial commitments.
  • Partner with Pegasus Leadership and direct them in the development of the strategic Annual Operating Plan and Long-Range Plan.
  • Manage the various lines of the Logistics P&L to deliver against financial commitments
  • Serve as a thought leader and financial counsel and partner with the CEO / Owner and his respective leadership team.
  • As a senior member of the Pegasus finance team, this position provides strategic direction, and personal leadership, management, and oversight over the finance team and its members.
  • Leads the development of and shares tools that will serve as best practices for use in managing cost and assets against loss or misappropriation.
  • Leads, develops, and retains team members, and ensures they are motivated and engaged.
  • Ensure compliance with the management agreement and attendant legal documents. Understanding how those documents translate into financial responsibilities and how they may affect the corporation's financial position.
  • Maintain effective system and control procedures as set forth in the policies and procedures manuals.
  • Ensure that all statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other information required by Pegasus Logistics Group are accurately compiled and submitted within the specified time frames and closings, identifying variances, and making recommendations for improvements as appropriate according to the Pegasus Logistic Group policies and procedures.
  • Review forecasts and budgets prepared by the leadership team to ensure Corporate Management is provided with guidelines of performance that are both reasonable and achievable.
  • Ensure all legal, treasury, and tax documentation is properly maintained and secured, and that all statutory and fiscal reporting requirements are satisfied, which includes any governmental requirements for permits and licenses.
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage is maintained to protect the assets of the company with particular regard to the requirements contained in management contracts.
  • Comply with the requirements of the company's Quality Management System.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education :

  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or other applicable curriculum coupled with appropriate certifications, such as a CPA or CMA, combined with an MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • Must have experience as an Assistant Controller or Public Accounting Senior / Management
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, understand the vision of the organization, and turn information into effective strategies to drive business performance.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strategies and link strategies to financial plans
  • Ability to influence across the organization at senior levels and to become a proactive, trusted advisor and thought leader on strategic issues in order to drive results.
