Job Summary
The Engineering Support Supervisor role manages a team of data analysts and engineering techs who primarily supports a completions engineering / operations team.
This role is responsible for leading projects to automate manual processes and produce data driven insights for the team and other stakeholders across the organization.
A successful candidate will act with autonomy to actively seek out and generate new and innovative ways to retrieve, visualize and analyze data across a variety of operational, geological and financial data sources.
First-line supervisory level leading an individual or single work group in supporting and servicing the day-to-day activities.
Accountable for the results of an individual team's performance. Assesses and forecasts strategic work plans for immediate work group;
may recommend resolutions for strategic issues to direct manager. Strong knowledge in own area of functional responsibility.
Resolves operational problems within provided guidelines; follows established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
Interacts daily with direct reports and / or functional peer groups. Strong sense of teamwork and ability to develop collaborative relationships across teams and departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise a team data analysts and engineering techs
- Prioritize analyst team workload and provide additional technical support when necessary
- Acts as business liaison and project manager across the organization
- Coordinate with peers in alternative asset teams to provide corporate alignment on various processes such as type curves, capex modeling, reserves, budget, etc.
- Data expert on projects; provides guidance for and leads data & analytics initiatives across the team, department and company
- Discovers and troubleshoots data issues across sources and drives issues to resolution
- Create highly complex datasets, visualizations and tools
- Spends significant time mentoring, training, and sharing knowledge across the team, department and company as it relates to data and analytics
- Works closely with IT leadership to develop strategies and plans to mature and advance data & analytics capabilities across CLR
- Advises on and recommends data & analytics software improvements; performs testing and sign off for enhancement projects
- Collaborates with varying levels of engineers, geologists and management to effectively gather data / reporting requirements and build analytical datasets, visualizations and tools
- Owns, maintains and enhances critical business intelligence applications and tools that are used to run the business
- Assists management in compiling quarterly and Board of Director meeting materials
- Implements automated solutions to streamline manual team processes
- Performs and automates data capture processes as necessary to support analytics efforts

Skills and Competencies
- Self-starter, with ability to build cross-functional relationships and lead a team
- Use SQL to retrieve data from systems, create integrated datasets using CTEs and / or subqueries, update data within systems and create data tables and views within CLR’s data warehouse
- Use Spotfire to enhance existing projects and create new projects from scratch using data from a variety of sources across the enterprise
- Implement automated solutions for manual workflows
- Understands or is able to learn the data models of Continental’s primary data sources including Aries, WellView, ProCount, SAP, Planning Analytics, eGIS, WLM, IHS and Enverus.
- Understands basic data modeling and data integration principles and techniques
- Detail oriented with ability to organize and synthesize large amounts of data to generate high-quality, executive-level quality presentations in an efficient manner
- Understands E&P operations, drilling, completions, production, reservoir and geoscience data types
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly adapt and exemplify flexibility around process changes and shifting priorities

- Expert knowledge of data modeling and data integration principles and techniques

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the Oil and Gas industry working as a Data Analyst, Engineering Tech, Engineering Specialist, Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, IT Analyst or related role
- Expert skills within Spotfire or similar BI tool with the ability to use existing projects, inherit and enhance existing projects and create new projects from scratch leveraging multiple data sources
- Expert skills within SQL with the ability to retrieve data from systems, create integrated datasets using CTEs and / or subqueries, update data within systems and create data tables and views within CLR’s data warehouse.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Information Science / Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting or related degree
- Experience supervising a team of data professionals.
- Expert in developing automated workflows using UiPath, Grooper, FME, Alteryx, and / or similar applications.
- Working knowledge of coding as it pertains to this role.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
