About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 2 years as a Registered Nurse, with at least 1 year in specialty

License : Current Registered Nurse License required

Certifications : BLS required; ACLS preferred

Must-Have : Epic EMR proficiency required and recent experience

Must be able to work within a 100-mile radius rule

Trauma Level I / II hospital experience required

Description :

The unit has a total of 90 double occupancy beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 during the day and 1 : 6 at night.

Common patient diagnoses include pneumonia, COPD, radiation patients, and acute kidney injury.

Occasional surgical patients include those undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy.

Registered Nurses are required to administer heparin and Lasix drip but do not titrate these medications.

Charge nurses are assigned on each shift but may take patient assignments if needed.

Patient care technicians are available on the unit, with 8-12 patients assigned per technician.

Respiratory equipment includes BiPAP and stable tracheostomy care.

There is a dedicated monitor technician on the unit, and travelers are not required to read telemetry.

Shifts start at 6 : 45 PM and end at 7 : 15 AM.

Every other weekend staffing is required, along with 2-3 holiday shifts typically.

Floating to other units may include MedSurg, stable low acuity in ICU, and other relevant settings.

Scrub color is navy blue.

The cancellation policy allows for hours to be canceled equivalent to weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment.

The charting system utilized is Epic.
