The selected candidate
Hands‑on design and implementation of scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions to align with Azure Well‑Architected Framework (WAF) pillars.
Accountable for a suite of data models with relatively high complexity, leveraging a strong understanding of data modelling standards to ensure high quality.
Drive best practices for data security, data privacy, and data integrity.
Ensure the reliability and efficiency of data infrastructure in the Azure cloud.
Understand AI‑driven data engineering tools; build cutting‑edge AI‑ready use cases and ensure availability of AI ready data.
Work with other departments across the business to help define and deliver business value, interfacing and communicating with program teams, management and stakeholders to deliver large, complex projects.
Your Key Responsibilities Include
Leading the production of high‑quality data engineering deliverables, ensuring project timelines are met, and providing informal mentoring / training to junior team members.
Leading the design, development and implementation of processes to extract, transform and load data from disparate sources into a consumable form for analytics.
Develop and define future state data architectures aligned with industry best practices and organizational needs.
Proficient in designing data architecture strategy, developing data architecture for modern data platform, assessing enterprise existing data architecture and devising recommendations.
Leading translation of requirements, design and solution architecture deliverables into detailed design specifications.
Define and implement data management strategies to align with business objectives.
Leading delivery of data quality reviews including data cleansing where required to ensure integrity and quality.
Evaluate and resolve issues regarding data quality reviews, cleansing, data integration and migration, leveraging advanced technical knowledge and showing technical leadership in aspects of data engineering while driving continuous improvement.
Provide a leadership role for the work group, ensuring the appropriate expectations, principles, structures, tools and responsibilities are in place.
Analyze industry trends such as cloud computing and distributed processing and infer potential impact on businesses.
Provide advanced technical expertise to maximize efficiency, reliability and value from current data engineering processes; research and monitor emerging technologies to identify new product opportunities.
Develop strong relationships with peers across engineering, collaborating to develop leading data engineering solutions.
Drive adherence to data engineering and data modelling processes, procedures, standards, and provide input into technology standards.
Skills And Attributes For Success
Data Architecture : Design and implement solutions using Azure Well‑Architected Framework pillars.
Infrastructure Architecture Diagrams : Create Azure Infrastructure Architecture Diagrams (IAD) that represent data solutions.
Data Extraction : Efficiently extract high volumes structured and unstructured data with automation CDC capability.
Data Ingestion : Design efficient batch and stream ingestion strategies for transactional systems.
Data Processing : Design and implement models, capabilities and solutions for data validation, quality and profiling.
Data Modeling : Design and produce complex data models, ensuring high quality.
Data Store : Design storage models and migration strategies.
Data Consumption : Design APIs, virtualization and visualization mechanisms.
Data Governance : Design governance mechanisms including catalogue, lineage, classification, MDM, exploration.
Data Security : Design authentication and authorization methods.
Data Integration : Develop and manage ETL processes for seamless data flow.
Required Technical Skills
Hands‑on experience building Data Architecture using patterns such as Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Lakehouse, Data observability & Data as a Service (DaaS).
Proficient in Azure services (Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics).
Experience building data orchestration with Azure Data Factory, Function App, Logic App.
Proficient in SQL and familiar with Python and Java.
Extensive experience on Databricks performance optimization.
Experience designing and building Data Platforms integrating disparate data sources.
Experience in authentication and authorization methods.
Expertise in MPP designs for high performance.
Expertise in Azure, Azure Data Bricks, Azure SQL, Spark.
Expertise developing dataflows using NiFi / ADF, Databricks.
Advanced design and implementation of large analytic warehouses.
Experience with Spark architecture and various methods.
Experience with Distributed Message Systems like Kafka.
Hands‑on experience with Python, PySpark or R.
Expert in complex SQL queries and procedures.
Understanding of big data and distributed architecture.
Experience creating ingestion workflows using Oozie or similar tools.
Knowledge of security measures like HTTPS and Kerberos.
Beneficial Technical Skills
Azure Data Lake Store, Databricks Delta Lakes.
Experience with NoSQL databases.
Advanced Analytics, ML and AI.
Knowledge in Graph Databases, preferably Neo4J, Cypher and CosmosDB.
Experience developing Microservices.
Education
B.E. / M.S. Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, IT, or related field preferred.
Big Data Certification from Cloudera / Hortonworks / Databricks.

The compensation ranges below are provided in order to comply with United States pay transparency laws. Other geographies will follow their local salary guidelines, which may not be a direct conversion of published US salary ranges. We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $145,500 to $280,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $174,500 to $318,200. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
Join us in a team‑led and leader‑enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client‑serving roles to work together in person 40–60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
