Senior Crossing Guard Coordinator

The Prince William County Police Department is seeking a passionate, experienced, and motivated leader for the full-time position of Senior Crossing Guard Coordinator. The successful candidate will enjoy a rewarding career managing a group of over 80 dedicated Crossing Guards and 4 supervisors.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead a team consisting of four supervisors, one admin, and approximately 89 crossing guards in the Crossing Guard Unit. The successful candidate ensures staff follow policy and procedures as outlined by the Department and PWC government. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can find creative solutions to address unusual circumstances, possesses a growth mindset, and is able to meet deadlines. This person is someone who can work well with Police Department Staff, PWC officials, PWC staff, VDOT Staff, and members of the public. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing school crossing data and effectively allocating staff to ensure the child\'s safety. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, particularly in interactions with co-workers, supervisors, and members of the public.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of experience supervising 4 or more employees simultaneously; or a combined experience of 1 year supervising 4 or more employees simultaneously with 3 years of experience as a Crossing Guard, in a setting focused on protecting the safety of children in or around roadways.

Preferences

• Supervisory experience of a year or more, of 4 or more subordinates
• Experience conducting performance evaluations, managing / approving employee schedules, work hours, leave, and overtime.
• Experience conducting field evaluations to determine crossing safety.
• Good written communication skills for completing written reports and other correspondence.
• Have experience collecting and analyzing data to make decisions and provide recommendations.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in an efficient and timely manner.
• Experience developing recruitment plans, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
• Experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Teams

Special Requirements

Must pass a complete background investigation, including a polygraph examination and pre-employment drug test.

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing, walking, grasping, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motions. The job requires the ability to sit and stand in both an office and outdoor setting and may include exposure to extreme temperatures.

Work Schedule

Available to work M-F, 7 : 30-4 : 00, with occasionally early am or late pm crossings outside of normal work hours.

Hiring Salary Range

$34.59 – 40.69 Hourly
