NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a client in the transportation industry who is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist with hands-on Dayforce experience to support a short-term project focused on benefit reconciliations, accruals, and ensuring accuracy within their payroll and benefits modules. This role requires someone who can step in quickly, navigate the latest version of Dayforce, and perform detailed reconciliation work to support month-end and year-end processes. This role is 100% remote with a requirement to be in the Central Time Zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform benefit plan reconciliations within Dayforce, ensuring accurate deductions, employer contributions, and enrollment data.
- Review, validate, and correct accrual calculations (PTO, sick, vacation, leave programs).
- Audit payroll and benefit transactions for discrepancies and partner with HR / Payroll to resolve issues promptly.
- Analyze variances between carrier invoices, payroll registers, and system calculations.
- Ensure accuracy of employee eligibility, deductions, and plan rates in the Dayforce Benefits and Payroll modules.
- Assist with month-end and year-end processing related to payroll and benefits.
- Support data clean-up, configuration adjustments, and quality checks as needed.
- Generate reports from Dayforce for leadership review, compliance, and financial reconciliation.
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and external benefit providers to align data and resolve discrepancies.
- Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams at project completion.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of Payroll or Benefits experience , preferably supporting large or multi-state workforces.Strong Dayforce experience with the latest version of payroll and benefits modules requiredHands-on background in benefit reconciliations , accrual validation, and discrepancy resolution.Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, audit functions).Experience with benefits audits, carrier invoicing, and payroll reporting.Experience with year-end processes (W-2, ACA, true-up reconciliations).High attention to detail with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Strong understanding of payroll compliance, benefit eligibility rules, and payroll-benefits integration.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in transportation, logistics, or similar industries.Experience with configuration adjustments inside Dayforce is a plus.Project Highlights
