Quality & Food Safety Manager- Lincoln, NE
This is an exempt level position. Job Summary :
The Quality and Food Safety Manager is responsible for the daily quality control and quality analysis of the Lincoln and Fremont sites inbound / outbound products and ingredients.
Also responsible for leading both sites food safety program. The plants operate twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
The lab covers all shifts necessary to operate the facility.
This position reports to the Divisional Food Safety. Essential Job Functions :
- Understands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practices.
- Understands their role in Safety and Environmental programs in the facility and promotes a safe environmentally compliant workplace.
- Manages, plans, implements, and continuously improves the Food Safety / Quality divisional programs.
- Implement Quality goals and KPIs, Food Safety / Quality, maintain Food Safety plan, and supports Operations for continuous improvement.
- Ensure the processes and systems are adequate to implement, achieve, and maintain 3rd party certifications (i.e., GMP+, SQF, etc.
and FDA compliance (21 CFR 507 and / or 21 CFR 117).
- Coordinate usage of and provide support for information technology systems (i.e., Policy Tech, APeCS, GEMINI, etc.)
- Serves as the Food Safety Team Leader and is actively involved in all Food Safety Plans.
- Leads the Food Safety / Quality Teams
- Ensure direct reports are establishing goals and setting metrics that support both corporate and the plant Food Safety / Quality initiatives.
- Actively participate in employee development
- Work and connect with the Divisional QC manager (dotted line reporting), the Plant Manager (dotted line reporting) and Superintendent on any quality problems, or issues that arise.
- Provide mentorship on AFEs and Maximo requests that support Food Safety / Quality initiatives
- Establish expectations for asset preservation with regard to Food Safety and Quality items
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and good decision making skills are required.
- The ability to provide motivation to employees and demonstrate leadership skills to all plant personnel is needed.
Job Qualifications :
- Preferred 4 year degree or equivalent 7 year Food Safety experience in a Food manufacturing and laboratory environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management, customers, and regulatory officials as needed.
