Job Summary
Under the direction of the Managing Trial Attorney, the Paralegal / Legal Assistant performs the essential functions of the position, which may include, but are not limited to, duties as described below.
Duties
- Document Preparation and Management :
Draft, review, and revise various legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas and correspondence.
File / Serve notices, pleadings and discovery in accordance with Code of Civil Procedure requirements.Communicate with attorneys, clients, and vendors to schedule depositions and meetings, order subpoenas, retain expert witnesses, and file pleadings.Manage and maintain organized and accurate records, files, and calendars.Provide support during trial, including retrieval of documents and information from file management system and assembly of exhibits and trial binders.Legal Research and Analysis :Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents. Summarize and present findings to attorneys for use in case development and strategy planning.
Summarize discovery responses and medical records and provide to attorneys for evaluation of potential liability and damages.Maintain working knowledge of court procedures and local rules.Review court dockets and retrieve case information and documents.Case Management :Assist in all stages of litigation, including pleading preparation, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations.
Coordinate and manage the collection, review, and production of documents in response to discovery requests.Monitor and manage case deadlines and schedules.Administrative Support :Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions.
Assist with the development and maintenance of legal templates and standard operating procedures.Skill And Educational Requirements
Education :Associate or Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
Paralegal certification from an ABA-accredited program is preferred.Experience :Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience, preferably within the insurance industry or a law firm specializing in personal injury litigation.
Experience with law firm practices, litigation support and case management.Experience with automobile insurance is preferred.Skills :Proficiency in legal research tools and software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Attributes :High degree of professionalism and ethical standards.

This is a non-exempt position that complies with an alternative work schedule when applicable.This work environment is fast-paced and accuracy is essential to successful task completion.The office is that of a highly technical company supporting a paperless environment.Travel may be required.Vision abilities to work at close range and with small print.Physical efforts required include typing, repetitive small motor activity, grasping, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting light objects under 10 pounds frequently, and climbing occasionally (small step ladder to reach supplies).Benefits : Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, Company Observed Holidays.
