Job Description
DJ Law is a downtown San Antonio-based law firm specializing in startups, tech companies, small businesses, and nonprofits. We work with an incredibly broad range of people and companies, including everything from software and hardware startups to filmmakers, musicians, and other creative artists, to social impact non-profits doing their part to change the world.
Because we work with such a wide range of people, the specific projects you will work are constantly changing. You will join client strategy meetings, in which you will be encouraged to offer viewpoints when you have them. You will help with the formation of new businesses and with developing the terms on which they do business with their customers. You will help clients strategize and execute plans to raise investment capital. You will analyze intellectual property issues like trademark filings and disputes as well as internet or social media knockoffs and imposters. You will help resolve issues between clients and customers, among the owners of a business, and in litigation.
We are not looking for people who are pursuing any particular major, and interest in law school isn't something we consider. The key things we will look for in the interview process are intellectual curiosity, a get-er-done attitude, and communication skills.
We think we have a pretty cool business, and that's because of the people we work with. You will see in our clients what it takes to be successful, understand why they decided to start a business, and the passion and drive it takes to succeed. You will experience right alongside them how entrepreneurs respond to good news, bad news, challenges, and opportunities, as well as what it means to live out a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
By the end of the summer, our interns will be able to :
o Meaningfully participate in client meetings
o Understand what it takes to be a great service provider
o File and maintain trademark applications
o Maintain a case management database
o Draft legal documents and pleadings
o Perform legal research into case law and precedents
o Organize and manage files, documents, and exhibits
o File documents with federal and state courts
All of our interns have been offered, and most of them have accepted, opportunities to stay on
after the internship ends. We hope to keep up that track record.
If this sounds like you, reach out, and let's talk.
