Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Telemetry specialty on a cardiovascular unit.

The unit is a 54-bed cardiac unit and serves as the main cardiac telemetry unit.

Patients in this unit are predominantly on cardiac monitors.

They will be monitored closely on the unit and in a remote telemetry room.

Patients may be receiving cardiac drips.

The patient population includes heart failure, heart attack, stroke cases requiring monitoring, and those with cardiac arrhythmias and chest pain.

Occasionally, overflow medical patients may be accommodated if needed.

The nurse will work a schedule of three 12-hour night shifts.

The nurse will not be required to take call.

Every other weekend availability is necessary.

There is an expectation to work two out of three holidays.

While block scheduling is not guaranteed, attempts will be made to accommodate preferences.

Staffing ratios may increase to 1 : 7 until additional support is provided.

PCA support is available on the unit.

Charting will be done using Cerner.

The nurse will need to administer blood products and have experience with cardiac telemetry and central line care.

Key skills include management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and wound care.

Interdisciplinary support will be provided by various departments, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.

Compliance with COVID-19 and flu vaccination is required, with exemptions available for medical or religious reasons.

This unit is looking for candidates who are professional and possess a strong work ethic.

Unprofessional behavior or missed shifts can result in immediate contract termination.
