Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Overview

The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures. The OR RN functions as a key member of the perioperative team, ensuring patient safety and supporting the surgical team before, during, and after procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Circulate or scrub in for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field, ensuring adherence to aseptic technique and surgical protocols.
  • Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site during time-out and safety checks.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Monitor patient status intraoperatively and respond to changes promptly.
  • Accurately document nursing care, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

    • Qualifications

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • BLS and ACLS required; CNOR certification preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent Operating Room nursing experience required.
  • ADN required; BSN preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills essential.
