Summary

As an Emergency Medical Technician, you will provide immediate medical care to victims of emergencies, including accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses. You will deliver pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care, ensuring patients receive the medical attention they need until they are transferred to an accepting medical facility.

Job Duties

• Represent the ambulance service at public functions and provide stand-by services as required.
• Document patient assessments and treatments using care charting software.
• Offer care to patients experiencing psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises.
• Work as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate equipment such as resuscitators, defibrillators, and electrocardiograms for advanced life support.
• Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to prioritize medical procedures.
• Respond to dispatcher instructions and drive emergency vehicles safely to designated locations.
• Administer medications under physician direction through various methods.
• Communicate effectively with professional medical personnel at treatment facilities regarding patient care.
• Clean and decontaminate the ambulance following patient transport, reporting any infectious diseases as required.

Physical Demands

Position requires lifting over 50 lbs, pushing / pulling up to 140 lbs, and carrying 80 lbs short distances. Frequent activities include standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
