We are partnering with an innovative leader in digital dermatopathology seeking a Software Engineer to join their remote U.S. team. The role involves designing and developing secure, scalable, and high-performance software using Python, PostgreSQL, and modern web technologies in a HIPAA-compliant environment.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
5+ years of professional software development experience across the full SDLC
Strong proficiency in Python
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and SQL, including schema design and optimization
Experience with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy, Hibernate, or JPA
Solid understanding of software architecture, scalability, testing, and documentation best practices
Familiarity with front-end development and building interactive, data-driven web applications
Experience integrating and scaling full-stack systems across distributed environments
Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and QA methodologies
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with experience enhancing large, complex systems
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience developing healthcare or clinical software products used in production
Knowledge of HL7 standards, data interoperability, or EMR / EHR integrations
Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or similar) and visualization tools
Proven experience working in HIPAA-compliant or regulated environments
Familiarity with cloud-based architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and secure data processing

40% Backend Development (Python, PostgreSQL, APIs, Data Integration)

Daily Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize large-scale clinical features and annotation tools
Collaborate with product, design, and lab teams to improve usability and workflow efficiency
Maintain and scale existing systems for high reliability and performance
Write clean, testable, and well-documented production code
Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and data integrity standards (HIPAA)
Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions
