PLACEMENT AS ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE ENGINEER IS CONTINGENT UPON QUALIFICATIONS.

Associate Engineer
Experience and Education Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be : (A) Two years of responsible journey-level experience similar to an Assistant Engineer, (B) equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field, (C) possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license, and (D) a valid CA certificate of registration as an Engineer-in-Training.
Assistant Engineer
Experience and Education Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be : (A) Previous technical engineering experience, and construction / project management is desirable, (B) equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, or a related field, (C) possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license. Possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate is highly desirable.
TENTATIVE INTERVIEW SCHEDULE The first round of in-person panel interviews has been tentatively scheduled for the week of 11 / 17 / 2025.
The second round of in-person interviews has been tentatively scheduled for the week of 12 / 01 / 2025.

Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA)

Work Schedule :
The City operates a 4 / 10 work schedule, with every Friday off.
Holidays :
The City observes 13 paid fixed holidays per year, plus 1 floating holiday of the employee's choosing, as well as additional days between Christmas and New Years.
Sick Leave :
Sick leave accrues per pay period for a total of 96 hours per year, with no maximum hours accrued.
Vacation :
Regular, full-time employees accrue vacation at the following rates, with a maximum of 500 hours.

Tuition Reimbursement
The City shall reimburse up to $1,500 per fiscal year for tuition and / or books for a job related or career development coursework. The city shall also match an employee's cost for tuition and / or books in an additional amount of up to $1,500 for a total City reimbursement amount of up to $3,000 per fiscal year. All Tuition reimbursements are subject to the eligibility requirement outlined in the City's Tuition Reimbursement policy.
