Units to Consider : SURGERY

SURGERY

When you got your first Operation game as a kid, you knew that being a part of a surgical team was somewhere in your future.

Fast forward a few years and some nursing education, you understand that your obligation to your patient’s care before, during and after surgery is important to your surgical nursing role and it’s so much more fulfilling than a game.

No doubt your expert technical skills are paramount, but you also understand that teamwork and communication are key tools in the operating environment.

As the bridge between the patient, doctor, and surgical care touch points, you embrace your role as the information gatekeeper collaborating with the surgeon and anesthesiologist.

NEURO ICU

Neuroscience nurses are a rare breed. You’re not afraid to take the lead and be the key stakeholder in your patient’s journey because with issues like brain injuries and strokes, the road to recovery is paved with challenges and small, incremental milestones.

Without hesitation, you champion and appreciate every single one, taking pride in your patient’s progress and your team’s hard work.

ACUTE SURGERY

You like being the go-to voice for your patients’ care before, during and after surgery. No doubt your expert nursing skills are front and center, but you also bring that extra something : critical thinking, action, and timely communication.

You're the bridge between your patients, doctors, families and all the touch points of care. Challenging yourself to leave a positive impact during your patient’s Surgery journey, you embrace your role as a caregiver and teacher preparing and educating your patient for home recovery.

ACUTE MEDICINE

While medical devices, data, and drips get your brain going, you also understand Acute medicine is so much more than just monitoring heart rhythms, ECGs, arrhythmias, and intervening in emergency situations.

It’s where the scientific part of your body leans on the emotional side to bring every nursing skill you’ve got to your patients.

CATH LAB

As a nurse in the cath lab, you knew it was the ideal career for you because the body’s engine, the heart, just fascinates you.

Your typical day is anything but typical. Comfortable in your own nursing skin, you interact intellectually with doctors and are able to multitask like nobody’s business.

Prepping for angiograms, injecting contrast, running balloon pumps, titrating drips, managing emergencies, getting sterile supplies, circulating, planning, and anticipating every need, nobody gets cath lab nursing like you do.

MED / SURG

Med-Surg nursing is the backbone of every hospital, and it’s not for everyone. Thankfully, you’re not everyone. Your calling as a Med Surg nurse means your unwavering passion, mental toughness, heart of gold, and yes, mad skills make you an invaluable asset.
