Purpose :
Under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive, this role plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care while providing leadership for day shift nursing operations. The position involves coordinating nursing services and education programs, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring high-quality patient care. Demonstrates self-directed, creative, and innovative leadership, with the ability to work effectively under stress and with diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee day-to-day nursing operations during day shifts; serve as Nursing AOD for assigned day tours.
- Implement organizational plans for nursing services, defining departmental functions, staff roles, and relationships with other disciplines.
- Communicate nursing policies and objectives to staff, other departments, and visitors, promoting harmonious work relationships.
- Conduct rounds, chart reviews, and direct observation to assess nursing care quality and service effectiveness.
- Participate in ongoing evaluation of nursing staff competency and performance.
- Select, develop, and evaluate day shift administrative nursing leadership, including Assistant Directors, Nursing Supervisors, and Head Nurses.
- Serve as a resource and guide for nursing leadership on day shifts.
- Participate in planning and evaluating nursing education programs, and attend professional meetings, seminars, and continuing education sessions.
- Support performance improvement initiatives, regulatory and accreditation compliance, and quality standards.
- Perform all duties in alignment with organizational mission, vision, values, and behavioral expectations.

Valid New York State RN license and current registration.Master’s degree in Nursing Administration or related field.Minimum of four (4) years of high-level nursing administration experience, including three (3) years in a hospital setting.Alternatively, a satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Direct Reports :
