Job descriptionBeginning 12 / 01 / 2025. Primary need : 7 consecutive days during Christmas week and into January. Anticipated contract length : 2–4 months. Patient Demographics : Pediatric inpatients. Patient Volume / Census : Average 26 newborns per day (not included in locum service). Admissions : Yes, inpatient admissions required. Rounding : Included. Phone Consults : Yes. Case Mix : General pediatrics. Procedures : Lumbar punctures (required). Beds : 36 medical / surgical pediatric beds; 70 NICU beds (not covered by locum). Nursery : Level I nursery (not covered by locum). Practice : 6 physicians currently, expanding to 9 total; 2 experienced nurse practitioners (1 nursery-only, 1 pediatric floors with 12-patient daily load). Reason for Coverage : Supplemental coverage during recruitment and peak seasonal needs. Hospital Privileges Required : Yes. Temporary Privileges Available : Yes (credentialing ~30 days). Credentialing Timeline : 30 days. Licenses : Active Florida license required. Board : Board Certified in Pediatrics. DEA : Active DEA Certification required. Certifications : BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NICA membership / receipts. Experience : Demonstrated experience in pediatric hospital medicine. Other Qualifications : Submission of updated CV, NPDB (within 3 months), and case logs covering 24 inpatient records within past 12 months (with patient age noted preferred). Round on pediatric inpatients and manage admissions. Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists and multidisciplinary team. Provide daytime pediatric floor coverage only (no nursery or NICU responsibilities). Work in collaboration with experienced nurse practitioners on the pediatric floors. Ensure high-quality inpatient care during holiday periods and coverage gaps.
