Frozen Food & Dairy Manager

The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the goals, values and operating principles of Sedano's Supermarkets, and in conformity with all laws and regulations governing the company. Every employee is to follow the policies and procedures of his / her department as well as those of the company to ensure smooth operations. Every employee, regardless of job title, is responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout the store. This includes, but is not limited to immediately securing an area when a hazardous situation occurs, promptly informing the store manager of the situation, and / or promptly taking action to remove the hazardous condition. Every employee must also maintain a friendly attitude, wear the proper uniform or dress code, keep the store stocked and organized, and provide excellent customer service on a regular basis.

The Dairy Manager is responsible for the frozen food and dairy merchandise in the store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Deberes Esenciales y Responsabilidades

Daily inspection of the frozen food and dairy cases ensuring proper temperatures are maintained
Ensure inventory is sufficiently stocked and displayed
Ensure proper signage is on merchandise; work with signage personnel when needed
Check expiration dates of merchandise, removing expired products from display
Effectively lead and manage dairy clerk(s)
Assist in Receiving area when frozen food and dairy items are delivered ensuring deliveries are properly documented, trucks are unloaded, and backdoor is secure
Verify invoices of merchandise delivered
Operate department equipment and tools
Retrieve, load and unload products and merchandise onto cart to move from back room to displays
Provide continuous attention to customer needs; greet, assist and thank customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner.
Keep work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards
Promptly addresses maintenance and safety issues and daily maintenance of floor conditions
Report all accidents promptly according to company procedures
Maintain clear communication with management and staff
Punctuality and good attendance in compliance with company policies; ensure work responsibilities are covered during foreseeable absences
Performs other work-related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position

Train newly hired employees on stock procedures and process

Assist with the unloading of delivery trucks

May assist Grocery department when needed

May perform general cleaning duties such as mopping and sweeping

Report any equipment malfunctions and / or call for repair

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements - Education and / or Experience Requisitos Mnimos - Educacin y / o Experiencia

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; minimum of 18 years of age and 1-3 years' grocery store experience required

Competencies, Skills and / or Qualifications Competencias, Habilidades y / o Calificaciones

Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred

Ability to understand and follow instructions in both English and Spanish preferred

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations with directors, managers, customers (both internal and external) and the general public

Good interpersonal skills

Takes responsibility for own actions

Ability to use computer and / or ordering machine to accomplish essential duties of this position

Ability to work hours and days scheduled, including holidays and weekends

Good math skills; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form

Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness

The individual performs duties in a grocery store environment. He or she maintains frequent contact with supervisors, employees and customers. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

In this position, there is the frequent use of gloves, knives, case cutters, stock cart, pallet jack, refrigerators, freezers, coolers, and cleaning supplies and equipment; on rare occasions a fork lift might be used. Floor surfaces may get slippery therefore caution and safety is mandatory; rubber boots may be worn. Proper attire is required to tolerate freezing temperatures. The use of a powered pallet jack and fork lift requires safety training; incumbent shall not use a powered pallet jack or fork lift without such training.
