POSITION SUMMARY
The Catering Cook (CC) is primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation of food for catering events including maintaining sanitation standards for the kitchen and events. This role will at times engage with clients and must provide superior customer service, with a pleasant demeanor.
COMPENSATION : $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine kitchen tasks and follow production lists and schedules
Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
Assist with research and development of recipes and cataloging recipes in binders.
Scale recipes for production.
Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
Attend catering events, set up food stations, and replenish food as needed.
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces including shelves in cooler and freezer and taking out trash.
Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly.
Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
Experience in online ordering and knowledge of word and excel preferred.
Minimum two years culinary experience. Culinary degree preferred.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
Must be organized and pay attention to detail in kitchen and food preparation.
Ability to maintain a pleasant and calm demeanor under pressure in a face paced environment.
Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively.
Manual dexterity.
Must have a working knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
Ability to stand for long hours
Some flexibility required. Must be available to work nights and weekends when necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation : Organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m., this position will be required to work early mornings and late evenings based on catering events schedules. May work additional hours occasionally throughout the year, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, and disaster response.
Environment : This position works in a kitchen setting with long periods of standing, talking and / or visual concentration, and use of kitchen equipment which always requires the highest level of safety standards. Occasional work will occur in the warehouse or outside in the field and warehouses in inclement weather. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Travel : This position will require travel to catering event locations and may have occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or special events which may require the use of a personal vehicle.
OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
