Spec Writer

Overview

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is currently looking for a Spec Writer to join our Community Environments Market team in Portland, OR. You will be working in our Community Environments (CE) Market, with the opportunity to design and deliver healthy, thriving mixed-use communities.

Responsibilities

• Owns responsibility for overall project specifications, including supporting design intent during project execution, with limited oversight.
• Develops specifications as appropriate for each project phase.
• Ensure adherence to firm-wide documentation standards and procedures, including proper use of MG2 templates. Provide guidance to other staff members regarding implementation of design standards as required.
• Handle Quality Control of project documents (internal team review).
• Develop, improve and maintain master specifications for cross-market clients.
• Assist in making recommendations for updating or modifying specification software or techniques to keep tools current and enhance deliverables and efficiency.
• Support local and regional offices in material research, selection and specification as well as material conflict issues throughout project phases.
• Manage technical aspects of project specifications delivery.
• Own responsibility for code and constructability issues on projects as they relate to project specifications.
• Coordinate specification deliverables with limited oversight.
• Own responsibility for submittal reviews, substitution requests, and information requests related to project specifications.
• Maintain and build relationships with vendors, suppliers, and product representatives.
• Coordinate with Client National Account managers.
• May serve as functional manager to team members.
• Implement sustainable design (such as LEED, LBC, CALGreen) in project specifications as required by project.
• Produce accurate and timely work in accordance with the project schedule and workplans, demonstrating understanding of contractual obligations, design intent, and project budget.

Compensation

$80,000 to $124,000 (depending on qualifications)
