Position Overview
All Achievement Centers for Children & Families employees are required to uphold the mission and vision of ACCF, and to foster an environment that promotes the academic, social, emotional and physical development of each child enrolled.
Tutors will play a vital role in helping students overcome academic challenges through our evidence-based academic support program called EmpowerED. We are looking for motivated and high-performing high school juniors / seniors, college students, or current teachers with a valid Florida teaching certification to serve as tutors. Tutors will provide high-quality academic support to K–12 students while cultivating a safe, engaging, and nurturing after-school environment. Through personalized guidance and encouragement, they will help students build confidence, enhance their academic skills, and thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

Reports To : Senior Director of Program Development & Curriculum
Duties & Responsibilities
Direct Instruction & Academic Support
- Provide individualized and small-group tutoring sessions in literacy and math for K–5 students, and subject-specific support for grades 6–12.
- Identify student academic needs and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies, social-emotional learning (SEL) integration, and culturally responsive practices.
- Track student attendance, progress, and engagement with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the Academic Coordinator, Youth Development Specialists, and families to support student growth.
- Support enrichment and standards-aligned practice activities for students not receiving direct tutoring.
Requirements :
Education & Experience
Current 11th-12th with a 3.5+ GPA, or enrolled college student.(Teachers Only) Current and valid Florida state teaching certification required. Minimum two (2) years of teaching in K–12 education.Demonstrated academic achievement, especially in reading and math.Strong communication skills, reliability, and ability to connect with diverse student populations (Bilingual Preferred).Preferred : Prior experience tutoring, mentoring, or in a leadership roleWilling to obtain DCF Child Care 40 hrs.Essential Skills & Abilities
