Qualifications
This position requires knowledge of minority cultures and heritage, knowledge of the local community and the various services available to the migrant and minority community. It requires the skill to understand and follow oral and written instructions independently; read and write at a sufficient level; effectively communicate orally and in writing; maintain routine records and prepare reports; plan and organize activities according to policies; persuade and motivate individuals and groups; establish and maintain effective work relationships.
The successful applicant must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License. Completion of the twelfth grade is required, preferably supplemented by college-level courses in sociology and school / community relations. Successful experience and first-hand knowledge in working with minority groups is required. A criminal history check and a current copy of a DMV driving record will be required prior to employment.
Duties of Position
Acts as a liaison between migrant programs, minorities, schools, migrant and minority parents, and community services. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision from a school site administrator within a well defined framework of policies and procedures. The position is responsible for providing information and communication links with minority groups, exercising initiative and possessing communication skills in foreign languages. Duties include :
Compensation and Schedule
Starting Salary : $3,726.93 per month
Number of Months : 10.5 (to begin as soon as possible)
Hours : 8 hours per day (7 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m.)
