Overview : Licensed Practical Nurse, Behavioral Health Unit Janesville, WI PRN / Pool Status - Flexible Schedule The Mercyhealth Behavioral Health In-Patient Unit is dedicated to serving patients who are suffering from acute mental illnesses and medically monitor withdrawal. The team demonstrates their passion for making lives better by providing care in a safe environment through assessment of needs, individual and group intervention, development of trusting rapport, de-escalation as needed and development of a discharge plan. The LPN provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients in an inpatient setting by performing the following duties supporting the nursing philosophy. May include day, evening, night, weekend, holiday, and / or on-call hours.

Job Duties :

• Provides quality patient care by performing treatments and procedures according to established protocols.
• Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment.
• Administers specified medications as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act.
• Responds in a safe and timely manner to patient requests and reports significant observations to the RN promptly.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the patients plan of care and delivers care safely and within established standards and guidelines.
• Participates in planning for patients care by providing input to the RN and under the direction of the RN, assists in implementing the patient care plan.
• Demonstrates knowledge of established hospital and nursing policies.
• Identifies emergency situations, initiates nursing measures as appropriate within scope of practice in emergency situations and seeks assistance and direction as necessary.
• Instructs patients in self-care according to the teaching plan and the directions of the RN. Documents this aspect of the patients care.
• Participates in QA & I.
