IT System Administrator III (Temporary Assignment Up to 6 Months)
Location : Headquarters Downtown Los Angeles (Union Station)
Schedule : Hybrid | Office days are 2 days and the rest remote.Monday Friday, 6 : 30 AM 4 : 30 PM (Alternating Fridays Off)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated IT System Administrator III to join our Information Technology team at our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters. This is a journey-level position responsible for supporting enterprise-level applications, servers, and databases across both Windows and Linux environments.
The ideal candidate will bring solid technical expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration , web system administration (IIS, Apache Tomcat) , and a strong understanding of data management principles , while being comfortable working in a hybrid environment with a mix of remote and onsite responsibilities.
This temporary assignment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organization while gaining experience in a fast-paced public sector IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform system administration duties for Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, and Unix environments.
Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (2012 and newer), including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Administer and support web applications and servers (Microsoft IIS, Apache Tomcat).
Support Microsoft SharePoint system administration , including maintenance of sites and applications.
Assist the Senior System Administrator with troubleshooting, system analysis, performance monitoring, and documentation.
Perform software installations, upgrades, and patches across various platforms.
Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of multi-tier applications .
Participate in new projects, system implementations, and IT infrastructure improvements.
Ensure systems and applications maintain high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science , or a closely related field and four (4) years of relevant experience; OR
Master's Degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience is defined as hands-on work in deploying, configuring, administering, and debugging any of the following :
Windows and Linux servers
Web servers (IIS, Apache, WebLogic, or JBoss)
Microsoft SharePoint and web certificates
Microsoft SQL Server databases
Desired Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and newer
Advanced knowledge of SQL Server database administration (2012 and newer)
Experience with Apache Tomcat , Microsoft IIS , and SharePoint
Familiarity with data management principles , web application testing, and deployment methodologies
Ability to troubleshoot and document complex technical systems
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
