Job description

Director of Residences – Austin, TX Home Base with Travel to Other U.S. Residences (NYC, San Francisco, Nashville, etc.)

Overview

A private and discreet UHNW family seeks a Director of Residences to oversee the operations, maintenance, and readiness of multiple U.S. homes. This is a newly created position designed to bring structure, consistency, and quiet excellence across a portfolio of primary and secondary residences.

The role is based in Austin, Texas , serving as the home base, with periodic travel to other properties, including New York, San Francisco, and Nashville . The ideal candidate is a high-functioning, organized, and humble professional with an easy, pleasant demeanor and a naturally low profile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Property Oversight
  • Ensure each residence operates smoothly and is maintained to impeccable standards. Oversee readiness, organization, and preventive maintenance of all properties year-round.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Develop and manage trusted vendor relationships in each location. Oversee service schedules, repairs, and capital improvements with full accountability for performance, timelines, and cost control.
  • Staff Coordination
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief of Staff and any local household teams to maintain consistent standards across all homes. Lead by example — with calm professionalism, clarity, and mutual respect.
  • Reporting & Communication
  • Provide regular property updates, maintenance reports, and budget summaries. Anticipate needs and proactively identify efficiencies or improvements without requiring principal oversight.
  • Travel & Property Transitions
  • Travel as needed to ensure seamless operations during principal visits, coordinating all logistics, household readiness, and staff preparation in advance.
  • Systems & Organization
  • Maintain digital household manuals, inventories, and property calendars. Establish structured systems for security, access, and vendor management.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of experience managing multiple high-value private residences or estates.
  • Proven organizational and project management capabilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, discretion, and problem-solving skills.
  • Technologically adept; comfortable managing operations across multiple time zones.
  • Calm, composed, and collaborative, capable of building strong relationships with staff, vendors, and leadership.
  • Personal Attributes

  • Humble and professional with a polished but low-key style.
  • Highly organized, anticipatory, and reliable — a quiet source of assurance.
  • Loyal, trustworthy, and comfortable in a confidential environment.
  • Warm and gracious demeanor with the ability to maintain high service standards.
  • Compensation

Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, including a full benefits package and potential for long-term career growth within the family organization.
